Busy Weekend

« previous next »

This past weekend managed to be fun, productive, and restful - even with the combined annoyances of late-night hockey yahoos because of the overtime game and the subsequent early morning thanks to the Sun Run. Friday was Daevina's David Lynch themed birthday dinner, which was fun. Elaine and I went as Agent Cooper and Audrey and gave Daevina this drawing that I did Thursday night. We carried on to the subsequent house party but couldn't stay that long because we had to get up relatively early for the Paradise Resurrection show at Atlantis that we both had artwork in and which I was photographing as well. The art area was a little hard to deal with since there were no walls to work with other than a single anchor in the back wall that I hung my large cathedral painting from. We showed up at the club a little after noon with the four smaller peices and to check out what the display situation would be like. Since everything was going to be on tables excluding the large painting it was off to the lumber yard for some cheap wood to make some table-top easels, and Canadian Tire to get a roof rack so we could transport the large painting with Elaine's small car. It took a couple hours to produce the four easels and we returned in time to get set up and watch part of the rehersal before heading out for dinner.

My legs are killing me today from speed-duck-walking around the catwalk for the entire show. It was a bit of a shame that the artwork had to be taken down before the end of the fashion show (which presented a logistical problem since I couldn't take pictures and pack up artwork at the same time - fortunately Elaine got permission to pile our stuff up in the corner for a while until I was able to help her carry it out to the car).

All of this before Sunday, leaving Sunday open to clean up the mess from making the easels, post all the pictures from the fashion show, play video games, and rest.

So there you go, fun, productive, and restful. Everything a weekend should be.
