Ever wake up with the feeling that disaster is looming just over your shoulder? ;-)

Vidma fell off the end of the Earth yesterday evening, around 11. I heard her tiny cries and *almost* caught her around 11:30. I had her in my hands, but she was so terrified that she freaked-out and escaped. She tried to run inside, running into the lobby window, twice, before bolting in another direction. At this point I appealed to my upstairs neighbours, and Rick came down and helped me search in the rain for I'm not really sure how long. An hour? But to no avail. I sat on my balcony for a while, hoping I would get a glimpse of her or hear her. After a while I switched to laying down inside next to an open window. At some point I fell asleep. Around 5:30 I woke up to one of her tiny mews. I used to live next to a rail yard and would sleep through freight trains being assembled and rolling by my window about 5 metres away. One tiny new from my lost kitten and I was up and out like I was back in Basic and someone had yelled "stand to!" in a field exercise. She was hiding in the All Knowing Trash Heap. It took some gushy food and patience to coax her her out. This time she practically glued herself to me. By around 6 she was back home, as right as the rain outside and, except for dirty feet, none the worse for wear. I sleep now.
