I was talking with some co-workers about cars that were good in the snow and I had to tell them about my Frankencar. This was a Volkswagen Type III squareback (i.e station wagon) that had been cut in half, shortened, and cleverly tricked out for off-roading. Seen here with my 10' long board, ready to head out to Tofino for dawn patrol from Nanaimo, photographed by streetlight at 4 a.m. just before departing. I'd tied the board on the previous evening and it snowed overnight. Winter of 88/89.
