Seeing Things Differently

« previous next »

You'd think that with the new camera, my old one wouldn't be that useful anymore. Not so! I made a slight modification to it today and now it sees infra-red light:

A world with orange grass and red-leaved cherry trees...

...where patio umbrellas glow in the dark and the trees are purple at night.

For comparison's sake, this is the same exposure as above, in visible light only.

Unfortunately I made a slight error during the disassembly and ripped the conductor ribbon attached to the arrow-pad buttons. For the time being I can't change the mode of the camera, turn on the flash, or browse the pictures I have taken. I've already e-mailed Olympus about a replacement part. Hopefully, since a large number of the cameras in the Olympus C-series used exactly the same form-factor the part shouldn't be too hard to get and not too expensive.
