The Night the Lights Went Out on Georgia

« previous next »

Well, we just went for a little walk to see what's up. The lights are out for all the streetlamps and traffic signals for Thurlow west to the park and just about everything north of Georgia that is older than about 1970.

Now what is especially peculiar is the police have a section of Hastings roped off on the 1200 block just behind _darkpixie_'s building and there is a body in the street (yes, I took my camera, but I can't post pictures right now since the UPS on my server gave up quite a while ago). There are no debris so it doesn't look like a car accident. There was no knocked over power pole or anything like that.

Strange. I can't image what would result in a dead body on Hastings and all the older portions of Coal Harbour being without power.

And an odd side-effect: there was no 9:00 gun tonight. Stanley Park and Dead Man's Island are without power, too.
