Heavy Metal, Man!

« previous next »

I just finished a crap-load of ironing. Generally there is a small pile of ironing that perpetually lives in the spare room, but since we have guests coming next week Elaine and I have been on a bit of cleaning/home improvement rampage this weekend. This included clearing all the laundry out of the spare room. It also included finally getting around to hiding the God-awful job the cable company did with the "improved" wiring -

is now
. The main renovations in the common areas are due to be done this week, incuding (finally) new carpet for the hallways. Our balcony should also be done this week - or rather it will be done this week because if we don't have notice Monday that they will be working on it Tuesday I am going to demand a bucket of deck paint to do it myself. I'm probably better off to do so, anyway. Without fail whatever we've gotten fed up waiting for an done ourselves has come out better than what the professionals have done - because we have to live with it and actually care about the building. There is a reason that throughout the restorations our apartment has been the model for the rest of the restorations.

It's going to be a busy week, and a busy month. Tomorrow and Tuesday will be more cleaning and apartment-y stuff, Wednesday we're going to Billy Idol at the Orpheum. Thurdsay, as always, will be laundry day, plus finishing the deck if it isn't already done (at the very least I'll still have to put the cat-proofing plexiglass back up). Friday Elaine and I will be celebrating the anniversary of our first date. Then Saturday Elisabeth and Drew will be arriving from New Jersey and Florida, respectively. We'll be "dragging" them to Sin City, of course. Sunday will be Nick's "stag" for me and Sandi's "stagette" for Elaine, plus entertaining Elisabeth and Drew as well, followed by a long-weekend Sanctuary (woo!). Then more playing native guide to the tourists on Monday. It's back to work on Tuesday, but well still be entertaining out guests in the evening. The following Saturday, October the 18th, will be the first anniversary of the fire and we were considering the idea of having our Nick and Sandi and Natalie and Ryan over for dinner to mark the day. Then the Hallowe'en season is in full swing, followed by the wedding, and Heidi and Pat coming out from Toronto.
