Crappity Crap Crap

I didn't notice it yesterday because I didn't have to go out of the apartment for anything, but much to my dismay I couldn't find my wallet this morning. The last I remember seeing it was paying the cab on the way home from Sin City. I called the cab company's lost and found and nothing was turned in, so I'm guessing it fell out of my pocket as I was getting out of the cab. Big fat pain in the ass. I looked everywhere for it this morning to the point where I made myself late for work. In rushing in to the office I slipped and wiped out on the marble floor in the lobby. Nice. Dignified. Happy fucking Monday.

After our usual Monday morning staff meeting I went home again for another search. No luck. I've been on the phone all morning cancelling cards, reporting lost I.D. and the like. I've just spent three hours on the phone with two banks, the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Heath Services, Blockbuster, the Legion, the Vancouver Police, and places with pre-authorized payments that come off the credit cards I've had to cancel. I'll have replacement credit cards in a week or so. The Royal Bank will mail me a replacement ATM card in about two weeks and I can get an interim replacement from my home branch. CIBC won't replace my ATM card and Blockbuster won't replace my membership card without photo ID, which means I have to get my drivers license replace first. Fortunately I don't keep my brith certificate and social insurace card in my wallet for just such a contingency. In the end my losses will be the $50 or so that was in the wallet, the price of a new wallet ($20-30), $17 to replace my drivers licence, and the loss of the 1901 and 1967 British pennies I kept in the wallet out of tradition (which I will replace, probably about $10 for the two, depending on condition) and the 1600-odd year old Roman Denarius my ex-wife bought me as a bit of a joke (which I won't replace - and before you say, "OMG! 1600 years old!": it was purchased from the coin and stamp department in the basement of Eatons from a "any coin in this bin for $15" ancient coins bin).

This is a royal pain in the ass.
