This is how it should be.

Moving day on Saturday went so painlessly it approached a pleasant experience. Nick and Sandi came to help, as did Natalie and Ryan. Elaine's movers were a bit late so things go off to a slower start than planned, but once everything got going it all happened almost effortlessly. My apartment was cleared out in record time, with no stairs or truck to contend with we were able to do things that would have been impossible otherwise, like moving bookshelves with most of the contents still on the shelves. I had feared that because nothing was packed it would end up being a long, tedious ordeal, but I was very much proven wrong.

That evening we went to Sin City, to take pictures, be with our friends and have a few drinks. Of the whole weekend that was the most disappointing part. Perhaps it was simply because we were tired from the long day that we were more critical, but we left early with the opinion that perhaps Sin City might be jumping the shark. It was too crowded and there were just too many obnoxious people. The strippers and their accompanying steriod-pumped yahoos, the creepy and socially inept hardcore fetishists, the bumbling wannabees, and the overly-excited college boys were all overrepresented. I hardly got any pictures at all because of some frightful people who hogged the photo area for nearly an hour. At one point I found myself underneath the cross, repairing it because the crossbeam had been knocked off (nearly causing Leaf to fall on his butt when the cross shifted under him). In the end I was just tired, put-out, and had been jostled one too many times.

Yesterday was the first full day in the new apartment with Elaine and it was marvellous. The place is a disaster, the epitome of disorganized, but it is wonderful nonetheless. Our things go unbelievably well together (go figure - her black sofa works with my black couch... lol!) and we go unbelievably well together. I'm looking back on yesterday and thinking about how the course of the day went and it's stunning really. There were no protracted conversations about what needed to be done next, no trivial issues expanded beyond their reasonable importance, just a sort of flow that I'd forgotten could even exist. There were points in the day where I don't even recall how we arrived at the decision to do what needed to be done next, we just both set about doing our own things and our own things were the same thing, including breaking for ice-cream and watching "The Mask of Zorro" :-)

Even this morning was great. Our morning routines just mesh. It's just plain weird how easy this all is. I hesitate to use the phrase "meant for eachother" because I think saying that is a little like mentioning "Macbeth" backstage, but it just may be the case. *squeee*
