What a strange day.

« previous next »

I mostly worked from home today because I was expecting the delivery of an item much to heavy to simply have delivered to work and then carry home. As is typical with these things the delivery window was "sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m." I hoped that it would show up on the early side of things so that I would just be a bit late for work. Naturally it didn't play out that way at all.

I did get a goodly amount of work done, probably more than I would have if I had actually gone in because I was feeling guilty about staying home. It was nice to get a day's work done with Tharsis hanging out on the monitor like things were when I was working from home full-time. I got to see weekday cat-antics first hand.

At 1:45 I had to give up waiting and head in even though my package hadn't arrived yet because I had a meeting at 2:00. So off to work I went. I was in the meeting and saw the truck pull up to my apartment. I excused myself and dashed down twelve stories worth of stairs and did a 400 metre dash in a tie and Fleuvogs, signed for the item and got it safely deposited in my apartment, then raced back to work. I finished off the day in the office and after having sat at my desk for a couple hours discovered that my legs had turned to rubber from the run. Now I'm sitting here back at my computer, still in my tie and 'vogs, my legs feel like I've been out dancing for hours, I don't feel like I went to work at all even though I got a ton done, and I'm just in a generally weird state from a mixed-up day.

Oh, yeah, and I also happened to learn a practical appication of my firearms training that I can put to use the next time I'm on a ferry at night...
