Squishy

I had an almost perfect weekend. I took Friday off from work, which may not have been the wisest thing from the point of view of work (I'm going to be somewhat frantic tomorrow as I have to spend Tuesday and Wednesday in Williams Lake and need to get some stuff ready for that). But from a personal perspective it was much needed. Originally I had booked it off because I was anticipating going out for Hallowe'en and being too hung-over Friday to be useful. As it turned out I was so pleased to be home Thursday night that I didn't want to go out. Friday I decided I would go out and run some important post-fire errands, but ended up helping Nick and Sandi move some things into my old apartment and moving some of the things Natalie has no room to store into my apartment (which used to be hers). Yes, we are playing musical apartments. I have taken over Nick and Sandi's storage locker and will be getting Natalie's frigde (as the one in this apartment is agèd and Nat's old place is unlivable - I just have to clean it out, which is scary - it hasn't been plugged in for 16 days now. Nat is less spooked now and was talking about moving into a smaller apartment in the building (something she can afford solo) when something become available. Perhaps the Goth-Block will make a comeback.

Anyway, Saturday, Elaine and I dropped a couple of remaining items off at Nick and Sandi's. I had a nice little chat with my old neighbour, Marta, who was surprised to see me and Elaine and I also perused one of the galleries in the building that had a very interesting show of large-scale portraits. Then, while it wasn't exactly antiquing, we headed out to Ditchmond to buy a mirror at Liquidation World. It's sort of a classical-styled thing with a shelf at the bottom that goes wonderfully with the medicine cabinet and the window for the light-well. We hung that and then had fun hanging all the little mirrors I picked up at the goth-swap from Christine around it. I need more tiny mirrors to finish off the look. I also need to get a new orbital sander and to sand and paint the bathroom. Chalk that up as Major-Apartment-Project-Number-One. After hanging the mirrors we moved on to hanging some of my stuff in the kitchen in a sort of overcowded-salon fashion. Then we had a lovely relaxed evening. I made her a lame spaghetti dinner, and we had "pustulent pie" for dessert.

("Pustulent pie" is vanilla ice cream with apple sauce. Elaine said that it was like having apple pie without the pastry. In a fit of silliness, "pastryless' turned into "pustulent".)

We got up today and had coffee, more coffee, cigarettes and listened to jazz. We didn't really have time for brunch, though. I had work to do and she had to visit her parental units. But this evening I was subected to "Bad Boy Bubba" at her place, which really must be seen to be appreciated.
