Accomplishments

I finished off a quick little website for a client the other day, http://www.grosvenorna.com. I quite like it. There are bigger plans for this and this one is simply intended as an initial presence, but has some cool features. Now that CSS capable browsers represent about 93% of the browsing audience, the site uses CSS features to advantage. The site has a graphic look with very few graphics (just a background and two different sized versions of a logo). It looks best in MSIE 5+ (which accounts for about 90% of browsers now anyway). Works well in Mozilla/Netscape 6.x (despite typically Netscape failures to fully implement w3c.org standards - accounting for the other 3%). It degrades acceptably in Netscape 4.x (another 5%). And (I like this part a lot) degrades impeccably to text-only for wireless devices. It also doesn't care one little bit about the size of the window - everything slides around to use up the available space.

Along the these lines, I've finally started work on Steve's website. There is no budget here so it is going to be a cross between my website (which is based on work I did for the City of Port Moody website) and the Grosvenor site. Sneak preview here. Not much there yet, but the background is randomly selected each time it loads. The main point of this one is for him to be able to upload his drawings easily - which of course is the part I haven't done yet. I'll pinch the code for that from my GothicBC site...
