I am a Luddite

« previous next »

Never mind that I am computer programmer, but I can be oddly resistant to new technologies at home when they don't actually have anything to do with work. I still cling to my rotary telephone, my pocket watch and my fountain pen. I still play my vinyl records (and a couple of *wax* ones) and my casettes. I only got rid of my 8-tracks about three years ago. I didn't buy a CD player until 1989 not so much for the virtues of the technology but because the music I wanted wasn't being released on vinyl anymore. It was December 1999 before I broke down and got a cell phone because I needed it to operate as a consultant. I have now finally gotten around to buying a DVD player.
