It's all about having options

« previous next »

OK. I'm enjoying myself today. Just knowing that I won't be stuck here forever, Azure or not, has vastly improved my general mood.

The interview with Azure was a total cakewalk. Dale didn't even attend the interview because his role is to make the reccomendation on the candidates' technical abilities and he is well aware of mine. That in itself sets me apart from all the other applicants. Basically I was just being assessed on my "people skills". Not a problem. They asked the usual questions and I played the interview game. I was frank about my weaknesses and kept them focussed on my advantages, especially the fact that I am very familiar with their current environment. The job is tailor made for me. That makes for a fun interview. I don't need the job, but they need me.

So today it was a matter of telling the recruiter exactly what my minimum offer would be. As I was typing up the e-mail my daily horoscope came in:

You know exactly what you're worth -- no further discussion is necessary on that point. Just for fun, wait to see how much someone needs you.

Choose many colors when arranging your flowers.

How's that for perfect? I have no guarantee that Azure will survive. It is a big fat gamble whereas, boring as this bank job may be, what I have now is eminently stable. If I am going to gamble on a start up I want the change to get a good pay-off for the risk. What is comes down to for Azure is I want stock options.

I feel like such an adult.
