(This tower with the cupola, the former headquarters of the Vancouver Sun newspaper and still called the "Sun Tower", was the tallest building in the British Empire when it was finished in 1922)

A Subtle Difference

Having to get up at 5:00 a.m. to go to Vernon for a meeting at the head office of the lame company that wrecked a decent job with a hostile take-over sucks donkey balls.

Having to get up at 5:00 a.m. to go to Vernon for a meeting at the head office of your 2.6 billion dollar client that you are developing a corporate intranet for feels pretty good.

Yup. Being independent is better for my soul. It's all about autonomy. it may be scary facing irregular income, but that is offset by not being a wage-slave.
