This is a graph of my bandwidth usage over 2006. The red part of the bars is strictly outgoing web traffic for all the sites I host. The blue part is other bandwidth use such as e-mail, remote access, file downloads and uploads, etc. There is a slight problem with the data because the monthly period for my web stats is strictly by calendar month whereas my total bandwidth stats are collected by billing period, which can be anywhere from one to four days off the calendar month. Extrapolating from just the web data I have a potential problem coming up. Assuming the exponential increase in bandwidth I've experienced over the last several years continues, just my web traffic is going to exceed the bandwidth allocation for my service before the end of 2007. With other bandwidth use factored in and assuming my cap is not increased I'll be hitting my bandwidth limit near the middle of the year. It looks like I am going to have to get a little more serious about generating income from my web activities this year so I can afford a fatter pipe. |
