This amuses me. Jazz was a cat-mutt of no particular breed. However, we made one up for him. He was a "Siberian Curb-Snow" cat. "Curb-Snow" because he was grey on the outside but his belly and undercoat were white. "Siberian" got added pretty quickly because the black smoke belching, industrial, Soviet gulag, stoic proletariat, etc. stereotypes suited his personality, and made the curb-snow image even more desolate and bleak. Now I find out that "Siberian" is an actual breed, and a very old, naturally occurring one at that. The picture on the left is literally a textbook example of a Siberian. Jazz is on the right. Inadvertently nailed it.

I just learned that in the course of his long life Tharsis changed breeds. When I got him he was a long-haired apple-head Siamese ("apple-head" is to differentiate the rounded headed, old-fashioned Siamese from the pointy-headed ones that are more popular now.) But about 15 years ago the long-haired apple-head Siamese were recognized in Canada as a distinct breed dubbed "Balinese" (the pointy-headed long-haired Siamese are "Javanese".) Also, pure-bred Balinese, which he was, have a life-expectancy of 14 or 15 years. That Tharsis lived to be 20 says something about my ability as a cat-dad (which i throw in the face of the Specific cunt thAt tried to conviNce the fosters i adopteD from that I was unworthy to own cats.)

There. I'm going to call it done now. The final addition is the rounded, black bit of wood at the bottom to hide the part of the Mac that sticks out past the frame and hides the input connections and the buttons for the power and setting. Also, if you look very closely, the keyboard is sitting on a tray with a scrolly wall behind it. I made that because Vidma likes to sit where she is sitting in the picture. It's a quirk of hers that she doesn't lie down gracefully. Her style is more like falling over sideways, where she would typically mash a bunch of keys on the top row of the keyboard, often with disastrous consequences for whatever I might be working on. The wall keeps that from happening. #imacmonitor #lifewithcats

Cheaper and infinitely faster than a $2.40 transit ticket to trek across town for one $1.25 washer. #Canada #canadianingenuity #toonie

"Rest in peace" really doesn't feel like the right sentiment for Gracie. If there is an afterlife, I hope she gets to enjoy it with all verve she had in life, and more.
