My phone camera is inadequate for this, but this rainbow was bright enough and the clouds behind it dark enough that there was a perceptible bluish-white band inside the violet arc. Bluish-white is how the human eye perceives ultraviolet light: all three types of cones have a shallow up-tick in their response curve so UV appears white, with the cones for blue having a slightly higher response, thus bluish-white. The lens of the eye does not let much UV through, being pretty-much a high-pass filter limiting the light mostly to the RGB ranges the cones are best at responding to. In short, this was a really freaking bright rainbow.
I am deeply confused. The shipping container is gone, but their punting-dog barks on and the All-Knowing Trash-Heap is undiminished. Was all of that just putting things in storage, but not enough things that they must still use their balcony as overflow storage?
